It’s a pity that when you want to give away something that is usable by others then you cannot locate the needy and when you need something without spending money on it then you don’t know who is willing to share. As a child we grow very fast at times hardly before using many clothes, shoes, toys, books for more than a few occasions.
Furthermore, there have been occasions when I also saw people throwing used batteries with household garbage which is harmful to the environment. Even in my early years living in South Asia, I have observed that used books can be easily sold for small money to junk dealers as waste papers instead of these reaching an inquisitive reader who wants but cannot afford to buy. Also, a lot of used clothes and batteries mostly go into the landfills creating long-term adverse impacts on groundwater and public health. These problems can be partially solved through the convenient matchmaking of donors and seekers. We can contribute to reduction in environmental impact when the used items that have not reached end of life are donated to an interested seeker for re-use and the non-usable electronic waste to the agencies that are engaged in recycling.
Business to Consumer (B2C) E-commerce platforms are good at match-making of sellers and buyers of goods and it’s booming especially since Covid pandemic. I wondered if the similar match-making of donors and seekers is possible for addressing the social problems that many youngsters like me are experiencing for supporting a circular economy.
